Woman punched in face by stranger on Gyro Beach; police investigating

Saanich police are looking for a man who punched a stranger in the face while she was sitting on the beach.

乐橙官网平台 The woman was sitting alone on Gyro Beach at about 10:20 p.m. Monday when an unknown man walked up to her and punched her, then ran off toward Telegraph Bay Road.

乐橙官网平台 “It was dark out and the incident happened very quickly,” said Saanich police spokesman Const. Markus Anastasiades. “It was shocking to learn that this assault was unprovoked, and we’re working every angle to identify the suspect and then determine what the motive was.”

乐橙官网平台 The woman called police and officers arrived and looked for the suspect, to no avail.

The woman suffered bruises to her face.

The man was wearing a dark coloured sweater, blue jeans and running shoes.

Police are asking any residents in the area of Tudor Avenue and Telegraph Bay Road/Cadboro Bay Road to check their home security systems for any footage.

乐橙官网平台 “We’re hoping that there was someone else who may have seen this happened,” Anastasiades said.
